Hi, I discovered a different behaviour between my two Hitec Eclipse Radios and would like to ask if. Hitec Eclipse - All Manuals.

Hi, I discovered a different behaviour between my two Hitec Eclipse Radios and would like to ask if this is 'normal', due to different software versions or if I have to worry. After my first Prism 7I bought two Eclipse 7 QPCM Radios and I'm very happy with them, bought the latest last year in Germany. I was installing a led light system these days and had a bad surprise tonight with the older Eclipse. The light system is connected to channel 6 with an extra switch for landing lights on channel 5 operated by the gear switch. On this rudder elevator (no ailerons) twin electric Waterplane I set differential throttle mix for better handling/steering in the water and I flew the plane with no issues last year. Now tonight while testing the new lights I was very surprised when the second motor (on channel 7) started immediately about half throttle as I switched gear (channel 5) After extensive checks of all the programed features I went on my sim radio setup to discover the motor trim on VR2 jumped to half throttle when gear switch goes on. Doing the same with the newer Eclipse (no differential mixes programmed) the landing lights work flawlessly on Gear and channel 7 does'nt move.

My main concern is that I planned to teach my son with the buddy cable between the two radios and I would like to avoid bad surprises on finals with this difference in behaviour. If you have an advice for a longtime hitec customer 'over the pond'? Kind regards rawy. Eclipse 7 QPCM QUESTION. Hi, I discovered a different behaviour between my two Hitec Eclipse Radios and would like to ask if. Hitec Eclipse - All Manuals.

Kind regards rawy Unable to check own TX until tomorrow, meantime suggest: 1.

To check both your Eclipse 7 are the same versions. (three versions in use).

Hold down the two left buttons whilst switching on and scroll through to 'Ver' (10 = no QPCM, 12 + QPCM or 'Ver' does not appear = +QPCM & AILV)? Next cycle power and enter setup menu and check if AILV appears (last issue for which VER may not appear on primary menu. VR2 is also controlled by switch top left front (Ch7) - retry with both switches in the same position. Go to new model name and reset before loading the same model on both TX. Retry and check if same VR2 action - sometimes when setting up a model, extraneous data may have been lurking behind. See also: more under under 'Radio Systems, Accessories, Alterations and FAQ.' Hi Alan, thank you for the prompt advice, I'm really impressed by your job on Model & RC FAQ Web Links, will need weeks to go through all that info.

In fact both TX's show VER 12, the newer does show AILV in setup Menu which is not the case with the older who shows FLPN as second menu point. Will follow your advice and load the same model on both TX to see how it does. Would be very disapointing to discover the two TX's are not compatible for buddy use as I bought the second Eclipse especially for this purpose.

The unit with AILV, as in previous post, was last version issued. Two Eclipse of any version will buddy/slave better than any other mixture and will be surprised if any difference found once both TX set up with reset new model numbers, keeping all switches in same positions. Introduction of AILV did of course bring in the required extra mixing within Ch2 & Ch5, which was perhaps turned on and operated with ch5 switch on other TX. This should turn off or be tuned out with the reset.

AILV is not covered in the Eclipse Manual or addendum, but a good explanation 'Ailevator Control Function and setup' is under page 22 of the Alan T. As said in my last post here, it was a long run to be able to come back to my waterplanes and I'm still not able to walk the five munites to the lake with plane and tx. In the meantime I bought another Eclipse 7, the latest version with 2,4ghz Optima Modules.

I programmed differential thrust in all 3 tx's using PMX1 to 3 and they all behave the same, when I switch Gear/Land button for the landing lights the right motor goes on full throttle?? Digging thru the manual I found out PMX3 is controlled on/off by the gear switch That means actuating/switching my landing lights jams my differential thrust setup. Was asking myself how the latest planes with lights/gear/bomb dropping and more functions do to get all this set. Will try to move the functions programmed in PMX3 to PMX4 or five and report about the results here, any input or advice is welcome rawy.

I'm looking around the web for product Eclipse 7 with Spectra Module and/or with QPCM. I believe I know the model numbers for each product but find it's a different story for dealers. My question, I noticed dealers have the Spectra module listed as product number 171724 BUT the description states Hitech Eclipse 7 QPCM TX with Spectra module. Is it not a different model number for the TX only with Spectra AND QPCM? That is, does model number 171724 have BOTH the Spectra module AND QPCM built in? (I know the Spectra is a separate module) My confusion is based on seeing out there versions of the radio with Spectra module but no QPCM as listed and others models listed with Spectra/QPCM.

I would like to get your product from a dealer but confused about product number. I need to know what model numbers I need for each, that is: Eclipse 7 transmitter only with Spectra Eclipse 7 transmitter only with Spectra and QPCM. (Not including receiver) If you could shed some light for me, I would appreciate it. :o 3dd 05:17 PM. Can,t help with model numbers but can shed some light. All the current Eclipse 7 Tx's are capable of both FM PPM and QPCM modulation. There is no differance in the Tx itself.

The very first ones out a few years ago were FM (PPM) modulation only. The differances you are seeing is in the Rx that is packaged with the Tx. The FM (PPM) Rx are differant and for QPCM you would need the QPCM Rx. The Tx is the same. If you are buying a Tx only all you need to specify is if you want the Synth or single frequency module.

If you want the synth you would buy a Hitec Eclipse 7 Tx with Spectra. If you wanted to use a QPCM Rx later then that is what you would buy and simply program the modulation type for that model it was installed in. John GCL 05:56 PM. Boy 'Spectra Ready' is certainly a deceptive marketing term and what I suspect is that Tx comes with the single frequency module. At any rate if the Tx comes with the Spectra it will be the higher priced one.

Just a note I beleve the purchase of this radio without the Spectra module is a mistake. The additional versatility this in combination with the shift select feature provides versatility that most do not even realize till much later.

For someone who stays in the activity and has the attitude of one airplane is never enough the value of the combination these two features provide is enormous. John GCL 09:18 PM. That is, on the dealer wording and item description. I figured the.higher. priced version is the one with Spectra module. Ad does state it but not all on QPCM. It's not I am on a QPCM quest but looking for another added feature for future use.

I know this model (Eclipse) and the Hitech 6 Optic with Spectra & QPCM I'm looking into for a choice. Beside another channel to use (Eclipse 7), any substantial difference between the 2? Thanks again and will be back.

JohnBuckner 09:48 PM. Can,t offer to much on the diffs between the Eclipse and the Optic because have not got my hands on one yet. One problem for five channel users with the Eclipse that I beleve has been addressed in the Optic.

I,ve run accross this a few times with the Eclipse since I use a ton of 555's and that is the inablity to enable two aileron channels since on the Eclipse to do this you apparently need a 6 channel Rx or more to plug the second aileron in the #6 Rx port. The Eclipse Has Ail, Rud and Elev dual rates but more importantly they are contolled by separate switchs. I am not sure if the OPtic has this capability.

Dual rates on three Axis is great but only if they are controlled independantly. John Cannon Fodder 03:16 PM. ORIGINAL: Rodney Both the Optic6 and Eclipse are easily switched from PPM to QPCM, just follow the instructions in their manual. I believe the Optic 6 will do CROW while the Eclipse will not. Not having an Optic 6 yet, I don't know for sure.

I have been looking through the manual but I can't find it, matter of fact it makes no mention of QPCM. It mentions how to change the shift but not the modulation.:( My buddy has one that is maybe a couple of years old and I'm also wondering if his E7 is QPCM compatable. JohnBuckner 05:23 PM. That link is the wrong manual, it is the original PPM only manual.

The QPCM version has a very colorful large QPCM grafic right on the face of the TX. In the Older Prism 7X manual the programing for the modulation change is titled in the index 'Modulation Mode'.

My Eclispe is the PPM only unit so do not have the QPCM module. Another Differance I have since identified between the Eclipse and Optic by working with students new Optics is: While both have have dual rates on all three axis (aileron, rudder and elevator) The Optic can only use two switchs for this therefore the Rudder and elevator is ganged on one switch and cannot be independantly switched like the Eclipse can. John mglavin 07:33 PM.

ORIGINAL: aeajr Eclipse can handle 4 wing servos on 4 channels. Optic can not.

I also believe Eclipse can provide crow mix. Crow is not an option with the Eclipse. Mglavin, I will admit that I am not an eclipse owner. However page 34 of the Eclipse manual clearly statest that this is a standard mix for the radio and how to enable it. Are you saying the manual is wrong? Eclipse Feature page Eclipse 7 manual My mistake, I must have been thinking of 'CAMBER'.&: But then again this maybe plausible too.

The Eclipse has several unassigned p-mixes available. Aeajr 10:25 AM. That depends.

That set-up is $220 new. Will you receive a warranty with the radio? Assuming it is in perfect condition, if you get at least 6 months better warranty with the radio, take it. If no, then you have to ask yourself if 2 years of warranty coverage is worth $45. I think it is. I would go new, but that's me.

For $180 you can get an Optic 6 with spectra, new with warranty. Unless you need the 7th channel or 4 servo wing programming, the Optic would be my choice. Warranty means a lot to me.
