This can happen for a number of reasons:. You copied a Windows 10 Pro off the Internet (usually a volume license - organization - key) and changed on a Windows 10 Home installation. Windows 10 Pro is not free.
If this is what you did, you will need to reinstall the previous edition or version you were running. You inadvertently installed the wrong edition.
The copy of Windows 10 you download and upgrade from will correspond with the edition of Windows you have installed, if it does not, this is why you might be experiencing problems activating:. Or use one of the following product keys: 1) Enter the Windows 10 Home/Pro default key. (see list below) Windows 10 Home: YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7 Windows 10 Pro: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T Warning: please ensure you use the right product key for the right edition. They may encounter and activation error of 0x8007007B or 0xC004f210 or the product key enter error of 0xC004F050 or 0xC004E016. You may try the workaround mentioned below and see if it helps.Important. Do not follow these steps if: - The device is in Deferred mode, meaning that the Activation page in Settings says to connect to the internet in order to activate. The device is intended to be used on a corporate network with a KMS server (not necessarily domain joined) - The user is trying to enter a Windows 7/8/8.1 MAK key that is the same edition as the currently installed OS and seeing SLEEDITIONMISMATCHED (0xC004F210). The correct fix is for the user to install the published GVLK for the edition and then try to install the Windows 7/8/8.1 MAK key again. Workaround: If you confirmed they have attempted to apply a VLK to Consumer software, they are essentially changing their licensing. They need to get their system off the VL path and back on the Consumer correct path.
This is the current workaround: 1) Enter the Windows 10 Home/Pro default key. (see list below) Win 10 Home: YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7 Win 10 Pro: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T Win 10 Home N: 4CPRK-NM3K3-X6XXQ-RXX86-WXCHW Win 10 Home Single Language: BT79Q-G7N6G-PGBYW-4YWX6-6F4BT Win 10 Home Country Specific: 7B6NC-V3438-TRQG7-8TCCX-H6DDY Win 10 Professional N: 2B87N-8KFHP-DKV6R-Y2C8J-PKCKT 2) Check for the new error returned - they should now receive error 7001 3) Use their Windows 7 or 8 product key to complete the activation (Note: If they do not have a Win 7/8 key or we are not able to extract using CMD, they will need to purchase a 7/8 Key or a 10 license). Is there an easy way to identify from the original iso download or from the DVD that was created to say what the original install was? I know for sure it was build 9926 64bit as a first install on the machine, but now you have put doubt in my mind. I honestly think it was Pro not enterprise, but now I'm doubting myself! Windows now identifies itself as enterprise edition and the enterprise activation key fixed the 'activate windows' message.
This message started after the recent update from build 9926 to 10041. The laptop is on the 'slow' track so far as updates are concerned, with updates set to automatic. While writing this, another thought has occurred to me. For legacy reasons I need to run Office 2007 and as I wanted to check out some VBA code in Access databases, I installed the enterprise edition of Office 2007 to do those checks for compatibility with Win10. Is it possible that the office installation has provoked this?

Happy to run any checks if you want me to. My plan is to wipe the installation and make sure I reinstall the latest Pro version for evaluation. This laptop had W8.1 installed, so it is a qualifying machine. I'll wait to hear from you in case there is anything you want me to check that would help, but if not, I'll wipe the install and start again with the latest build. UPDATE: Just checked again the download available from the Microsoft site as of today (24 March) is still the same as the one I used, for X64, build 9926. There is no option of a version such as pro or enterprise.
It is just windows 10 technical preview 64 bit. The links to the pages I used are and from there I downloaded the en-gb 64 bit version As I said earlier, certain I didn't install enterprise and that the 'version' has changed during either the updates or possibly by the installation of Office 2007 Enterprise. Hello all, Recently I have been updated my Lenovo z570 with 10041 PRO update. After updating its asking to activate windows using new product key.
When I checked above suggested options 1. Cmd- slui.exe 3 it prompted ' Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the items' Issue continued to persist 2. Cmd- slui.exe 4 it prompted ' Can't activate Winows by phone' Issue continued to persist 3. I tried slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx also but issue continued to persist.

I tried slmgr.vbs -rearm also but still no use. I tried SFC also but it was also of no use. Installation process was normal. Is there any new solution to activate windows 10 PRO? Thanks, Swapnil.
